On Open Monumentday 11 September 2022, the public could visit the site of Bayernwald at Wijtschate. The site has about 300 metres of German trenches of the Great War and is the largest trench system in Flanders.
View on the towers of Ieper from Bayernwald.
The map with the heights of Mesen and Wijtschate which played such an important role during the Great War.
Different German bunkers are still to be found at Bayernwald.
A recently restored part of the trenches.
The remembrance trees on the frontline. The red trees on the German frontline,
and the blue trees on the allied frontline.
