8 May 2025, funeral for Pte. JOHN TAME who served with the 2nd Bn. The Royal Berkshire Regiment, son of Edward and Alice Tame of Windsor, Berkshire, killed in action on 16 august 1917, aged 22. The remains of John were found in 2018 at Zonnebeke and further research and DNA testing proved his identity.
The toll for the family was extremely hard seen John's brothers (L.Cpl) Alfred and (Cpl) William who also served were killed in action on 9 May 1915 in the Battle of Aubers ridge, have no known grave and are commemorated at the Ploegsteert Memorial.
The service was organised by the MOD and conducted by Revd. Stephen, Cassells and the military honour performed by soldiers of 2nd Bn. The Rifles. LEST WE FORGET. REST IN PEACE JOHN.

The Royal Berkshire Regiment, zoon van Edward en Alice Tame uit Windsor, Berkshire, gesneuveld op 16 augustus 1917, 22 jaar oud. Het stoffelijk overschot van John werd in 2018 gevonden in Zonnebeke en verder onderzoek en DNA-testen bewezen zijn identiteit.
De tol voor de familie was buitengewoon zwaar, John's broers (L.Cpl) Alfred en (Cpl) William, die ook dienden, sneuvelden op 9 mei 1915 in de Slag om Aubers Ridge, hebben geen bekend graf en worden herdacht op het Ploegsteert Memorial.
De dienst werd georganiseerd door het Britse Ministerie van Defensie en geleid door Revd. Stephen, Cassells en de militaire eer werd betoond door soldaten van 2nd Bn. The Rifles.
