The Passchendaele Museum at Zonnebeke opens its doors from 1 February 2024. Visitors can discover a brand new immersive experience and temporary exhibition.  With these innovations, the museum wants to continue to bring and commemorate the story of the Battle of Passchendaele and its many victims.

New immersive experience ‘Passchendaele 1917’


 
The Passchendaele Museum opens, with the support of Province of West Flanders, a brand new immersive room. The new immersive experience serves as an introduction to the Battle of Passchendaele. Powerful visualizations, custom-made music by Jef Neve and historical images projected several metres tall chronologically explain the Battle. It will be a total experience in which young and old will be completely immersed in the story and landscape of 1917.
 
New temporary exhibition ‘Echoes of War’
 


In addition, in the context of the WWI theme year Landscapes | Feel Flanders Fields of Tourism Flanders and Westtoer, the museum opens the temporary exhibition ‘Echoes of War’. The exhibition shows the part played by the landscape as a witness and bearer of war stories. It takes visitors through the history of the landscape. For example, they follow the journey of an ordinary soldier with the help of personal stories. ‘Echoes of War’ encourages to discover the landscape around the museum after the visit.
 
Family-friendly tour

Lisa, her nephew Louis and museum rat Maurice still take the youngest visitors on a discovery tour with a folding map and audio play. The interactive elements throughout the museum ensure that the children are also fascinated by this part of our history.

The Passchendaele Museum is open every day from 1 February until 17 November from 10:00 am until 5:30 pm. Last entrance to the museum at 4:30 pm.
