Opening of the open air exhibit on the occasion of the Centenary of the Canadian Brooding Soldier Memorial. This is part of the events of the 2023 centenary project 'Le Capitaine & the Soldier' for both the Guynemer Memorial and the Brooding have their centenary anniversary.
The opening took place at the site of the memorial on 9 June 2023. The exhibit tells the story of the memorial and of the Canadian soldiers who fought and fell in the 1915 nd of Ypres Battle and the sory of the designer who was a soldier himself.
An address was done by Mr. Cools, the mayor of Langemark-Poelkapelle and Alderman Hoornaert. John Desrosiers of Veterans Affairs of Canada (VAC) also addressed the people as did Sabien Lahaye-Battheu of the Provincial Council of West Flanders

NL: Op 9 juni werd de openlucht expositie over 100 jaar Canadees Monument de Brooding Soldier geopend op de site van het monument. Dit is een van de evenementen van de 2023 eeuwherdenking 'Le Capitaine & the Soldier' want zowel het Guynemer monument als de Brooding soldier vieren hun eeuwfeest.
Deze expositie brengt het verhaal van het monument en van zijn ontwerper Frederick Clemesha die zelf soldaat was én ook het verhaal van de Canadese soldaten die in die 2e Slag bij Ieper vochten en het leven lieten in April 1915. Toespraken werden gehouden door de burgemeester Cools en schepen Hoornaert van Langemark-Poelkapelle, tevens door Dhr. John Desosiers van Veterans Afairs of Canada (VAC) en door provincieraadslid Sabien Lahaye-Battheu.
