In the commune of Ploegsteert, North of the Wood, were two considerable farms (now rebuilt) called La Plus Douve and La Petite Douve. The latter was the object of a celebrated raid by the 7th Canadian Infantry Battalion in November, 1915. The former, which generally within the British lines, was used at times as a Battalion Headquaters; and it was also known as Ration Farm from the fact that the Battalion transport could approach it at night with rations. Ration Farm (La Plus Douve) Annexe was begun in January, 1915, and used until January, 1918.
There are now over 200, 1914-18 war casualties commemorated in this site. The cemetery covers an area of 1,459 square metres.
