The Cemetery is on the West side of the Lille Gate, at the top of the old Rampart. It stands over dug-outs. It was begun by French troops in November, 1914, and used by British units at intervals from February, 1915, to April, 1918. There are 197 Commonwealth burials of the 1914-18 war commemorated in this site, 9 of which are unidentified. The cemetery covers an area of 1,871 square metres.
