Commemoration New Zealand - Passendale - 12/10/2025
12/10/2025 - Passendale
On Sunday 12 October 2025, New Zealand remembered the battle of 12 October 1917.
The ceremony started at the memorial plaque for 4 Australian soldiers of the 49th Bn. and who have no known grave. They are commemorated with a plaque near the spot where they disappeared on Oct 12th 917 in Zonnebeke:
Sgt Artur James
Cpl Artur Siddle
Pte William Hayes
Pte Arthur Ashton,
Master of ceremony: Johan De Jonghe
Last Post and a lament were played.
Laying of wreaths.
Second stop was Tyne Cot Cemetery were flowers were also laid.
The closing ceremony was held at the
commemorative column New Zealand Division at 's Graventafel
.
