This museum tells the story of Peter, a young German soldier at the front who was killed several days after his arrival in Diksmuide. It is also about his mother who, to cope with her grief, made two sculptures of grieving parents, a masterpiece that now stands in Vladslo.
The museum of course also shows the work of Käthe Kollwitz. A great artist with a pacifist message in the Germany of the 1930s and 1940s.
