Joseph Lesage (1884-1918) a First World War story
At the end of july 1914 a war was on the verge of breaking out. France called up their military reservists. Among them Joseph Lesage.He was 30 years old. With 4 brothers and 3 sisters he had grown up in Moret, a little town south of Paris, and lived in Marseille, enjoying the reputation of a promising painter, drawer en etcher. Just 21 years old, after his study at the Academy of Arts in Paris, he had been admitted to the ‘Salon des Artistes’. He had exhibited in Paris, Lyon, Reims and Marseille. Life was full of promise. He was married and had two little daughters.
